Burlesque Imitates Art - Sinew
Honey Tangerine productions presents Burlesque Imitates Art Sinew! Join us for an evening of burlesque inspired by the unique style of 6 local artists. The audience will have an opportunity to read each artist's statement while experiencing both a visual and a performance aspect of a two month collaboration between the artist and their assigned dancer. Sinew is defined both as a piece of tough fibrous tissue uniting muscle to bone or bone to bone and to strengthen with, or as if with sinews.
The opening and burlesque show will take place on the night of October 6th at The Valiant Theatre and Lounge, located at 6621 St Claude Avenue in Arabi, LA. The reception, a semi-formal affair, will begin at 8pm with live performances at 8:30 and 10:30 pm. Attendees will be able to meet the artists and purchase prints between shows. Guests are also welcome to purchase cocktails from the bar, delicious food from our food vendors and visit an interactive photobooth provided by Brandon Perdomo. Those who wish to contribute to future Burlesque Imitate Art Events will be given the opportunity to place bids on our silent auction. The art show, curated by Samantha Mullen of Soot and Stain, will remain on display at the Valiant for the entire month of October. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
Sinew will exclusively feature Burlesque Imitates Art alums. We are proud to showcase the art of local artists: Kevin Comarda, Courtney Simon De Montfort, Julie Verlinden, Aurelea River, Addy Neilson and Samantha Mullen. Burlesque collaborators include: May Hemmer, Dede Onassis, Tsarina Hellfire, Sable Switch, Dick Jones and Honey Tangerine. Audiences will be guided through the show by our Master of Ceremonies, Richard Mayer.
Burlesque Imitates Art seeks to provide an all-inclusive platform for artists and performers to come together in order to create unique and challenging works of art. We hope to see you at our one of a kind show aimed at Art Lovers, Burlesque Enthusiasts and everyone in between. Cocktail attire encouraged. We promise that this will be a burlesque experience unlike any other and look forward to sharing the night with you!
